Ok, alot of you guys are having issues with setting up port-forwarding correctly... I figured it out by trial and error...
Here's my scenario:I have a 256K LDN connection, Aztech modem (or as some technicians insist on calling it... a router) and the Ethernet connection is plugged into a wireless router (for home networking).
Now, each time you boot your modem, you're assigned a static IP from LDN e.g. 119.30.xx.xxx... The Aztech modem/router also sets up a DHCP server or something, which to be honest I dont really get... Anyways, the range of the DHCP server is 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254 (192.168.1.1 is the modem's web gui)
And for those of you who've set up a home network like me, the router is also significant... my router's gateway is 192.168.2.1 (web gui). My IP on my own Lan is 192.168.2.250Ok... now I forwarded 3 ports in the Aztech modem:
On the left hand side, under 'Advanced', go to Application>Portforwarding, and forward the following ports:
1. The dynamic IP assigned to you ( i dont really think this is important but just do it in case... to check this, under the 'Advanced' section, go to status>connection status)
2. Forward "192.168.1.2", which is the first IP of the DHCP server range.
3. And lastly, forward your own LAN IP if you've a home network... i.e. 192.168.2.250 in my case. You must forward your LAN IP in you modem as well as your router.
Tbh, i think only number 2 is important but do all of them if it doesn't work.
Hope this helps... it worked for me. And remember to save your settings in the modem gui.

I got LDN connection yesterday. Working fine without problems. Haven't had much time to check but brother said that currently the download is around 17-18 KB/sec so they will fix it at their end today by 12:00 PM.
Although when I went to speedtest.net, the Lahore server gave me around 240kbps download and 110kbps upload.
Overall I am happy! ![]()

Overall I am happy!
Let's hope you stay happy like that
For me, speed isn't the issue as LDN is providing really good speed (above 30KB/s on average, so far; I don't know once their customer base expands how is it going to be), but it's the tech support and customer service where most of these companies will make us feel the difference.

If I compare it to MBL. What is MBLs ratio?
Also your 512 package, is it 512/512 or 512/less then 100?
well yes let me clear u all thing about download upload ratio will be download/upload 1/2
the packages will be like that in download upload bandwidth
256k download / 128k upload
512k download / 256 upload

well i dont know why they guy in karchi franchise saying u 5-6 days may be in karachi there is different requirement of documents and procedure and about contension ratio its 1:5 i told it hundreds time already and its the truth other this if someone saying is false
Yes I guess you are right as 1:5 seems to be more practical which is the norm and I think those franchise people don't know themselves what ratio is so they just said 1:2.
Let's see what happens but honestly I don't care what connection ratio is as long as I am getting decent speed tongue

Sorry. I didn't want to talk about the QoS.
How about someone put this as a sticky in another thread?
Btw, I'm just curious: when is WOL's name going to change to Link.Net? (on the scratch cards, that is).
And why is it that WOL isn't using TW1's bandwidth considering the parent company is one?
WOL is the one who has very large user strength of dialup and scratch cards in pakistan thats why old WOl name is used for Dial up/scrach cards brand nothing to worry about that .
and 2nd i have no technical info about this tw1 whatever but one thing which i know is that Old Wol was having very low bandwidth but LINKdotNET has so much bandwidth to face any type of customer burden.

No, apparently, we'll never own the modem unless we buy it flat out (from link.net) or get one for ourselves.

One question:
Does PTCL allow the other ISPs to use their ONU lines for DSL. My phone line has high attenuation and low Signal to noise ratio.
No, if you are on ONU, PTCL DSL is your only option as far as broadband internet is concerned.
