Hello and Assalam O Alaikum Everyone,

I was watching posts on these forum as i was looking to buy the new WorldCall EVDO and i successfully bought it a week earlier.
But the experience at the moment is quite okay...

I am living in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and currently connected with the same EVDO (256kbps) and getting a download speed of around 20 to 30 kbps. the browsing is quite good but from the last 4 days i am unable to connect to the WorldCall FTP using the Flash software that i downloaded from the support site of WorldCall.

I used the FTP on Monday and Tuesday, but from then i am unable to connect to it and when i want to go the Website of FTP, i can see a message "This page can only be viewed by WorldCall Subscribers"  -- CAN ANYONE HELP ME IN THIS???

I have called WorldCAll 5 times and each time they are noting down my cell number but not replying me back...

The signal strength is full and i am getting red signals in the bottom of the AnyData dialer.. the device i am using is the Rs. 4500/ one and it is recommended to me by the WC dealer as he told me that the net speed in Gulshan is excellent.

Sometimes the net got disconnected in the day hours and sometimes i am unable to connect the dialer and it gives me the message that the remote computer is not responding...

If anyone can help me with the FTP Issue.... i will be really thankful.

Best Regards,
Mateen

Yes you are right, i think FTP no more available to EVDO users, but i accessed it from my frnd's computer ftp is working fine, he has a GO4B connection.

Which means that it is deliberately turned off for EVDO users.

And yes I agree with few people here, the service is declining, specially in the 8 PM -12AM slot its sometimes even worse.

But i accessed it from the same EVDO on Monday and Tuesday. How is that possible?

Thanks Masters, I am using EV DO service near Korangi Crossing (Bhittai Colony - sector 31 / B) and it is working fine here. Have you sent your complain to cs.south...?

Please do share their feedback with all of us.

smile I told you man the service is only for Worldcall Broadband subscribers. You might have accessed during some misconfiguration / server maintenance which is apparently accidental smile.

Any how on that portal, there are movies, songs, games, etc. Tell me what exactly are you looking for? Probably I might be able to provide alternative pointers.

Regards!

N.B.: Can you please visit www.speedtest.net and post your results here?

Arright, just to prove what I am saying follow these steps:

1) Open RUN command dialog box (START menu > RUN)

2) Type and enter "CMD" (to open MS-DOS Command Prompt)

3) Now type this on the command prompt

ftp worldcall.net.pk

You should see some text like:

<b>Connected to worldcall.net.pk
220 ProFTPD 1.2.9 Server (ProFTPD) [bugati]

4) In user enter ftp and password "share"

5) Now you should see the connection rejected smile

You may also try "wcall" or "guest" as user name and password but it will not work. So it should be clear by now that the server and service are up and running but EV-DO users do not have access to it.

Hope it helps!

Re: Worldcall Evdo

Thanks Masters.

I can understand your concerns after paying an amount of Rs. 1,800/- for 512kbps and getting such results. I noticed that test results are slightly better in PAF Korangi Creek as compared to PECHS which might probably be because of less number of users.

Anyhow, I would suggest you to downgrade your package to 256kbps - I mean what you are getting is what I am getting on a 256kbps (alhamdullilah smile) so at least this way you would be able to save Rs. 600 per month unless you have an alternate for Internet connectivity.

It is sad that WTL people aren't responding or disclosing facts at this point of time which is likely to affect potential number of prospective customers. In fact, it is quite unfair with customers / consumers as a whole in Pakistan that their complains are not addressed whether it be WTL, Wateen, PTCL or cellular service providers like Ufone, Mobilink, etc and authorities like PTA are governed by people who have vested interest in these sectors.

Lastly, all I can do is to wish you bundle of good luck!

P.S.: This is what I am getting now:

358277096.png
358279842.png
358284210.png

I will have to say these are the lowest speed experienced by me so far.

Re: Worldcall Evdo

Another update smile - I wonder but I think it's true that since the day I posted reason for opting 256kbps and speed bursts tongue my throughput isn't going above 256~265 kbps. Tested this from speedtest.net, DU Meter, probably bandwidth is really capped now.

Anyway, net is working fine like 256kbps so far (alhamdulillah).
