As you guys know I was very much satisfied with wateen and its over all performance in my area. BUT few days back when it rained heavily and wateen signals went down to 1 from 4. I was very much dishearten with this but when I checked with my service I was facing slow browsing and time out issues.

After getting in touch with them several times the CSR told me that I should release my IP and delete catche and #$%#. The guy was so un technical. He was on call with me for half hour but still he couldn't understand that I was complaining a low signal. Anyways he kept on asking " sir ap ko problem kia paish arahi hai " After that I called them several times and still they want me to delete my cache and all.

Anyways it has been 4th day now. I have taken my modem to every corner of my house. Tested several areas. Even tested on my 2 other friends house who live near by.

I don't know now what I can do as qubee and wi tribe also doesn't give the coverage to my area. I wonder why they dont give coverage to my area.

Any ideas what I can do :S

Depressed.

Forgot to add : There selfcare never worked after they got upgraded there selfcare last month.

poor parameters

CINR must be greater than 10 to remain connected.

If you succeed in getting it to 12,13.....+ than automatically RSSI will also change.

Try aligning it somewhere else. My CINR is 10 and I get 90+speed.

But some times signals create a lot of problem. Agree.

Rain attenuate the Wimax wireless signals so reception quality of signal will decrease. Wait for the rain to stop and sky to clear. Atmospheric humidity will also have effect on your signal.

If all else fails, use a higher gain directional antenna at the relevant frequencies and point it to the nearest Wateen tower where their antenna is installed.

^ Rain has stopped, I don't even know where there tower is. It must be far away from me.

Another cause can be mobile jammers ? Do they cause any problems with wimax signals ?

Maybe it does and maybe not.I live near Military Academy PMA and I still get good values. My CPE RSSI value is 53-56 dBm and CINR is 27 and sometimes 30 dB.These are great values.Still I use Ptcl dsl with 60 line attenuation :( don't know for what reason.

I had same signal issues with witribe modem, as poor signals in my area. Wateen doesn't work at all. Major problems with PTCL lines in the area as well so no DSL. (Witribe used to offer external unit in start with 1mb connection. But now they ask full price for it which is like 200 dollars.)

I did something with my wimax modem which I don't recommend at all. As I could get 3 signal on the roof top (where house water tank is), I placed the wimax modem in a sealed box, installed a small computer casing fan with some small holes for air ventilation, and placed the box on the roof top. Attached it with power and a wifi router which is placed inside on first floor. And finally it works.

Now I get RSSI = -55 and CINR = 20, and I can very easily use 1MB connection which I couldn't use before (and also planning to get witribe boost for 1.5mb).

You can also check your wateen modem, there could be a problem with it also.

My opinion is that the problem lies in the Access Point that your device connects to. So no matter where you place the device, it still won't connect properly. I myself have received a reduction in signals since the rain. And I'm using an outdoor device. Just keep pestering them to check the AP and don't waste your time on their "standard procedures".

(1) Reduction in signal strength is relatively new phenomenon. I also used to have all 3 signal bars, but now reduced to 2. On a Wateen franchise, someone was telling me access point hardware is being "upgraded" and the new hardware is made by ZTE or Haewae (the older one was by Motorolla). So may be this reduction in signal strength is due to poor hardware / poor configuration on Wateen's end? People who have insider information can quickly find out and tell us all.

(2) Second new phenomenon at my end is relatively frequent total outage. Though even during good old days, there used to a day in month when it was dead. But it always used to come back by few hours. Now it goes out so much more often and at times never come backs by 3 or even 5 days! It looks like that their network is out of their control!

(3) If there is some CS on this forum (yet !), we want you to work smarter and harder on these recurrent issues please!

P.S.
-----
Today Wateen is again dead at my site (The lone power light is up, everything else is down!) and I am typing this message from PTCL EVO, which I was forced to buy as a backup!

^I also agree that their signal strength is reducing compared to past.

At my end I where I was able to get 3 or 4 signals with CINR 13or 14, now only 2 signals come with CINR of 10,11.
