Hi I need information on renewal of Pakistani Passport.
How long before passport expiry can we apply for renewal of passport?
(I have heard that one can apply for renewal only three months from the time of passport expiry, is it correct? or you can apply before that?)
What is the procedure? Do they return the old passport or keep it?
Sorry I have no idea on this and want complete details.
Surprisingle www.dgip.gov.pk does not even have a section on 'renewal of passports'.

If you are abroad or in Pakistan (but having a valid visa) then it is good to renew three months before the expiry
and if you are in Pakistan and don't have any visa then you can even renew after the expiry as well

In both cases they won't keep you passport
With visa they will attach the old passport with new
and without visa they will just stamp it cancel and will return it to you.

Yes you can renew anywhere in Pakistan and even out of country too (it must be computer generated)

no they are not renewing anymore they are issuing new with 10 years validity

I recently renew my passport before 5 month of expiry and its true now the new passport I received is with 10 year validity.

I applied for a renewal of my passport on 5 october and it has not been delivered until now. I went there and passpprt office people were saying that it will be received after one more month.

Does anyone have a contact number of passport office inquiry where u can ask the status of your passport?

I just went through this hell ride of passport few weeks back in Lahore, so here are some facts.

- Urgent Passports are taking 15 days instead of 5 days as they claim.
- Normal Passports are taking 2 months instead of claimed 12 days

If you want your passport urgent, contact some agent siting outside passport office and tell them that you want it real urgent. You have to pay their "Fees" and rest will be done in time. Other than this "method", just wait

All Passport are for 10 years now.

Urgent fees : 5000
Normal Fees: 3000

I applied on 27th Nov, not sure about before. But according to the link shared by Armada, 10 year passport is effective from 15 Sep.
