Well - some online report (or was it in this thread) that PTCL HAS TO HAS TO get the 3G license, without fail.

So.... where does EVDO fit?

Or are they getting this for Ufone? (I guess so).

Telenor's always shown interest in 3G since the start. Heck, they wouldn't have performed a 3G swap.

(I think I've said this before as well)

And Mobilink also has done the 3G swap.

Soooo.... I think we've got our three players. Not saying I'm predicting, but... just a thought

Opposition is trying to inser its head where it does not belong. Lets hope govt. goes ahead in any case. We need 3/4G no matter how corrupt the govt is and no matter how much commission they are going to earn. After all, the so called biggest telco of Pakistan i.e. PTCL is a DEFAULTER and no one is giving a rat's a$$ abt that.

3G in Doldrums, Senators Ask PTA to Revamp Policy

"First thing first: A senate’s standing committee for IT and Telecom, the same committee about which we told you earlier, has asked PTA to amend 3G policy.

It has in fact recommended few things which are as following:

  • Auction 3G licenses only, and remove the terms 4G/LTE and technology neutral from licensing draft
  • 4G/LTE will be licensed later for earning more money
  • Increase the base price from US $ 210mn to US $ 291
  • No defaulter will be able to participate in the bidding – PTCL in this case
  • 50% of the licensing amount will be paid in 30 days and rest will divided in 5 equal installments in local currency..."

Likely the same as GSM prices went. Early adopters will have to pay higher price. As competition would increase, the prices will decrease.

I still fail to see any significant advantages of 3G technology regarding telephony/messaging. The only benefit would be higher speed data services but they will likely be expensive just like the current EDGE/GPRS rates.

^Also the availability will only be in bigger cities or in some parts of those cities, rest of the country will never get access to 3G

administrations in !@#$ companies are stupid and most likely ignorant they don't know how to do business and to get more customers ..

Higher prices means less costumers

Lower prices means more costumers plus more revenue

That China is the open example for you to understand

When the monkeys will become civilized then i think we will get 3G in Pakistan

They did in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and "Planet of the Apes".

"Caesar is home". AHO AHO AHO AHO AHO AHO AHO AHO. :D :D :D :D

By the way, the time 3G will comes to Pakistan the world will be moving to 4G or beyond. Pakistan is doomed in technology. While world is moving to 4G and beyond we are starting to get applications and suggestions on how to block 50k+ websites from Mar 16, 2012. Good luck for the dark ages that are coming ahead. ;)
