Bye Bye internet freedom. Gradually all freedoms are being restricted in Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

This made it to Slashdot, in a more worrying way and possibility, of all of encryption being planned to be blocked.
http://yro.slashdot....-Ban-Encryption

I read the PTA law, but that is dated March, and the typical mumbo jumbo in it doesn't really specify how or why they intend to block encryption and to what end. What about the SSL only services? What about e-commerce and net banking?. Expecting them to realize that it violates free speech and privacy is just unfair to their numb-head officials and their mentality.

I came across the same slashdot/techdirt article and was just about to post the link. While doing a google search, came across another blog.
PTA sent letter to its licensees for the legalization of their customers Virtual Private Networks
There is a Micronet message identical to the one posted in the first post followed by a scan of a letter titled "Usage of Encrypted VPNs" sent by PTA.

Another stupid act by so called regularity authority. The fools don't even know the real concerns behind their pointless act and some others e.g SMS filtering phobia and demanding search engines for email data. :( . Now whether they're afraid of apposition using it for some strategic communications? or public using it to access adult content?, but there are hundred other legitimate uses of it, and most importantly how can they put restrictions on our privacy right?. Just shameless
